Doesn't have to be bad....

jugaluck

Foster the People appears to be the latest in a long line of bands created and promoted by the music industry primarily for aesthetics i.e. the Monkees, Poison, Boys to Men, etc. If you like the music there's nothing wrong with this-I still enjoy listening to The Monkees & Duran Duran-

Light and Fun

Kowboyy

OK, so it isn't a masterpiece, but the beats are fun and the whole album is a good listen. There unique sound is refreshing.

Embarrassing and gutless!

Everything sad and pathetic about the current state of rock music can be found in this cd.

Luv this CD. :-) Enjoy it like a good cup of coffee. At the end, you'll say..wow...that was pretty good.

My album of the year

fulofunk

Catchy, hooky, positive. When I'm down, this has picked me up this year. My soundtrack for 2011 no doubt. They mix melodies of the 70's, grooves of the 80's, hooks of the 90's and techno of the 00's. Not easy to do, but these guys pull it off. There's a reason they have been in the top ten for the last 6 months, because it's feel good stuff.

don't be seduced

EMUSIC-01CE6DF9

Don't be seduced by the catchiness. This album gets old before you've even listened to it once. I'm listening to it for the third time and it just gets more and more annoying. Each of these songs is perfect for a 30-second ad (\"Don't Stop\" is used in a Nissan ad currently airing), but none can sustain interest for three or four minutes. \"Pumped Up Kicks,\" for example, is four minutes of the EXACT SAME bass line over and over again. The singer's voice is thin, weak, and lacking in any sort of character whatsoever, and the lyrics are completely inane. And the production is very radio-friendly -- all surface, no depth.

Keep an eye on these guys

jamie11558

As good as this album is, they are even better live. The band seems to gel very well together. The stand out songs on this album, besides the over played \"Pumped Up Kicks\", are \"Helena Beat\", \"Houdini\" and Miss You\". But the album works well as a whole. I for one am betting that they will get better with time. They are a very young band.

hipster bait

seriously, listen to this and the bay city rollers back-to-back and see if you can tell the difference.

UGH!

newhavenfilmmaker

Seeing them on SNL made me want to put a bullet in my head. This (and Vampire Weekend) is everything that's wrong with music today. NO BALLS!

Catchy

jdrost1

If you tell me \"Pumped Up Kicks\" is not the catchiest song you've ever heard (or at least one of them), I believe you are lying. Eh?
