A former Be Good Tanya goes solo
2010 | Label: Nettwerk Records

On Obadiah, singer/songwriter Frazey Ford forges her own path — her first away from her former Americana outing, the Be Good Tanyas. This set isn't a drastic change from the band's body of rich, harmony-laden folk tunes, but where the Tanyas spent a decent amount of time on traditional songs and frequently covered artists like Neil Young and Dolly Parton, Ford mostly forges her own path, save for a cover of Bob Dylan's "One More Cup of Coffee." Her own songs span the topics of motherhood, religion and nature, all over a calming combination of acoustic guitar, banjo, and subtle drums. With her wavering — albeit sometimes mumbled — alto at the forefront, Ford proves she can do just fine without the other ladies at her side.

Sounds good

but I think her voice is going to be an acquired taste.

Frazey Ford simply has an irresistible and indefinable quality that draws you in, if you are tuned to her frequency. Tune in and be transported. Truly beautiful.
