Fred on 78

Furby

As Apartness says, these are 78rpm recordings made for Brunswick between 1933 and 1938. They feature songs from the Fred and Ginger films (including some Fred DIDN'T originally sing, such as Music Makes Me). If you are a fan, these are as indispensible as the movies. Starring Fred Astaire is more comprehensive so download that and the first two songs from this one and you have all Fred's 78 releases up to 1940. But why no studio recordings from The Gay Divorcee, Roberta and The Story Of Vernon and Irene Castle?

Not the soundtrack recordings

apartness

The good news is, audio quality on these recordings is considerably better than what we're used to in Astaire film vocals. The bad news? These aren't the original soundtrack recordings. They are the songs Fred sang in the films. It is Fred singing them. The arrangements are nice, the performances fine. It's an excellent record featuring many of Fred's best songs done well. But if you're looking for the original soundtrack recordings, these aren't them.
