SAXOPHONIST SUPREME
Freddy Gardner's life was tragically short, taken by a stroke in 1950 at the age of just 49. Skilled in the saxophone, clarinet and several other instruments, his playing was a pure joy to hear. Brought up on jazz, but I feel his best work was with Peter Yorke's Concert Orchestra. If you haven't heard "Valse Vanite" "Body and Soul" "I'm in the Mood for Love" etc, you're in for a treat.
