A Political Manifesto

WorldFusionRadio.com

All Is War is as much political statement as it is brilliant music. Fun-Da-Mental took a long hiatus after the 9/11 attacks apparently unsure how to respond as politically active Muslim musicians. The songs on There Shall be Love! were remixed by various artists on the 2003 release Voices of Mass Destruction, the title clearly a swipe at the lies that justified the invasion and occupation of Iraq. After awhile they could no longer keep silent. All is War is an angry response to the evils of the Bush administration and the complicity of the Blair government. Overall it is not their best album musically but several songs are brilliant and quite blistering in their political critique. Several singles have been released since, but no word on future releases though there is no chance that Fun-Da-Metal will fade away quietly - that would just plain not be possible.

Racist, hate-filled, and lacking creativity.

As hip-hop goes, this is pretty mediocre. They spend half of the album talking about how they want to kill people who don't share their beliefs, and the other half complaining about how people don't like what they are saying. Their attempts to create a unique sound mixing British rap and African beats goes unaccomplished. If you are looking for hip-hop with a North-African flavor there are much better groups.
