It's Official--Black Metal Fans Are Stupid
With all the baffling and incredibly dumb backlash (in some quarters) to Salvation's excellent follow-up 'Maranatha', I thought 'well, I haven't heard Salvation yet, and that was supposed to be hot shit, maybe it's actually even better..?' Because that seemed like the ONLY possible explanation as to why a crushingly-superior black metal album like 'Maranatha' would be met with hostility from Funeral Mist fans. Now that I've heard 'Salvation', the answer is clear: the black-metal scene is just having one of its asinine random fits of random stupidity again. (sigh) Don't get me wrong: 'Salvation' is an intimidating monster of grotesque black hate and you should own it and play it loudly and often. But so is 'Maranatha', and it has better production. Not 'cleaner', mind you, just better: you can HEAR how awesomely raw, ravaged, and corroded it is. Get both albums and shut up.
