Awesome energy!
In old days, you \"wore out the grooves\" of a record you listened to all the time. I'm figuratively experiencing that with the strangely compelling music of Gabby Young and the Other Animals, who at times evoke Austin Lounge Lizards, Lady Gaga, 8 1/2 Souvenirs, Regina Spektor, Cirque du Soleil, and Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, all wrapped up in a dreamy Tim Burton movie. Her covers of songs by Madonna and Katy Perry (check under the Dig Deeper heading here) are outstanding interpretations of those originals. And on this album, her performance of We're All In This Together is particularly sensitive and tender. This album is definitely on my list of quirky styles.
