It's hard for me to articulate what I like and don't like in electronic music as my tastes run from breaks to trance and everything in between. As for Galaxy 2 Galaxy, however, I don't think I've enjoyed an electronic album from start to finish as much as I have this one. It puts me mind of nighttime highway rides through cities lit like mixing boards. I only wish "The Theory (Mind Mix)" was three times as long. Download all 22 songs -- it doesn't matter if it's today or tomorrow. Do yourself the favor.
Hi-Tech Jazz is one of my favourite recordings ever, so this review will be a little biased ;) This album features the stand out tracks from the two original Galaxy 2 Galaxy EPs (the first being 2 discs, the second one disc), along with newer funk from the UR stable. I was originally going to say that Transition and Timeline didn't really belong here, but thinking back 14 years to when I first heard the dance floor monster that is Astral Apache, I think I can understand Mad Mike's reasons for including them. This is some of the most beautiful dance music created in the last 20 years and should not be missed.
