Numan meets Mode

viderati

I'm a huge fan of everything Gary Numan did in the 70's and 80's, but this album sounds like a pared and slowed down version of what Depeche Mode were doing in the 90's. I'd love to see Numan do something that demonstrates his intuition for rhythm, his solitary scifi sensibilities and his ability to fuse harmony with mechanistic and electronic sounds.

Pretty Awesome CD

I was always somewhat of a fan from his work in the 80's...then I heard this album. It's dark and powerful. I have recommended it to friends and they thank me with gifts! I love this album. Please release another one Gary.

They Say All Music Guide

Whether or not you enjoyed Gary Numan’s slick, industrial pop design on his 2003 album, Hybrid, applause is now due. Numan has continued to influence and impress genres all around since his arrival in the late ’70s; all the while maintaining a stylish, dance-inflected sound. Always original and inventive, Numan fans think he’s tops, and Numan appreciates that. Mutate, a limited-edition, three-disc set (including Hybrid), is his gift back to those who’ve traveled with him thus far. Again highlighting his collaborations with Flood, Alan Moulder, Curve, and other select dance maestros found on Hybrid, Mutate includes previously unavailable live clips for “Crazier” and “A Prayer for the Unborn.” as well as promotional features of “Rip” and “Dominion Day.” Eight brand new remixes, including the fabulous “Are Friends Electric (Metamorphosis Mix,)” round out the Mutate box set. American fans should think fast — Only 4,000 copies of Mutate, Rovi – MacKenzie Wilson
