Long and a poor interpretation.
While the intent behind the piece is good, it is pulled off rather sloppily. The notion of melding new-age-y ocean sounds with Satie's proto-ambient piano works is not entirely outside of the realm of acceptability. However, it is with Sill's 'improvisations' that the piece begins to falter. The washes of white noise that are the sounds of the surf are a welcome addition; his additional notes and tones in Satie's sparse soundscapes are not. The synth used is especially distracting. Recommended only for those who need some poor interpretations of Trois Gymnopedies to make the other ones look stellar in comparison.
