This album gas a great team. I think Hamilton has been more inspired, but Harris, when I stop to pay attention is awesome. Herb Ellis and Ray Brown together make this quintet a treasure in any collection.

Sweet! nice to hear Gene with sax

This album has got great interplay between one of my favorite pianists, Gene Harris, and saxophonist Scott Hamilton. It's nice to hear Gene playing in a band that's not fully his own(or Ray Brown's). "Sittin' in the sand trap" is a favorite for Lindy too, altough I prefer the live version.

They Say All Music Guide

This matchup by pianist Gene Harris and tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton, in a quintet that also includes guitarist Herb Ellis, bassist Ray Brown, and drummer Harold Jones, is fun although it does not reach the excitement level one might expect. The ballads work best, while the stomps never really catch fire or explode. Harris and Hamilton always play at a high level, but their collaboration falls short of being the expected classic despite some good moments. – Scott Yanow
