A convincing rendition
Turned to this recording during Christmas season, even though it is of course not just a Christmas composition. The performance is measured, has the essential "lightness" characteristic of historical performance practice approaches, and the group chose to use some of the less familiar alternative arrangements of certain arias (e.g. the Bass "But who may abide the day of His coming" and the Soprano "Rejoice greatly"). Overall the performance is totally convincing and a true pleasure to experience.
