But emotionally I find this disc a bit empty. Velez is a master on the various drums, no doubt about that, but this disc just can not keep my attention. Check out "Breathing Rhythms" for an equally competent, but far more fascinating collecting.
Glen Velez has hands like large butterflies on the heads of frame drums. He's a brilliant master of the frame drum, bringing a stunning range of sound and style from a very simple instrument. This album is varied, but focuses on the drum. If you like drumming or world music in general, listen to this. Some of his other albums lean more to jazz than this one does. I like this better than the jazzier albums. ~heidimo
