Phenomenal Guitarist!
This excellent sampler contain most of Phillips' first four records plus seven tracks from later albums. The highlights include "Dogs", "Lies", "Creeper", and all of the Dark Lights and Razor Pocket albums (tracks 21 on disc one through 12 on disc two). Fretless bassist Bill Rea can be heard to great effect on his composition, "Inca Silver Metallic", and on the lovely ballad "John Marshall". The music is all instrumental with lots of positive energy, strong melodies, and fantastic guitar work. Comparisons have been made to Hendrix and Jeff Beck (Wired-era), but Phillips truely has his own voice and sound. Do yourself a favor and check out this brilliant musician.
