a different kettle of trout
I love the string sound of Schubert's original quintet too much to let this replace it, but the four-hands version by Czerny (not -that- Czerny!) captures the charm of the piece fully, and it gets listened to quite a bit, and I'm very glad to have found it. I expect that if Schubert couldn't round up four more friends to play the quintet at one of his parties, he'd have happily taken a part in this version. Hats off to Goldstone & Clemmow for finding this gem and recording it.
