I've always been wary of hits and 'best of' collections assembled by A%R men at record companies. This may be a collection of tunes well known in Iran and its environs, but I found the selections to be very bland compared to other albums by Googoosh. That said, the sound is much better than some of the vinyl rips available in the blogosphere.
This album is a collection of all the best and must have tracks from the Iranian legendary artist, Googoosh. If you do not have a proper collection of songs from this artist, this a good place to start your collection.
The music of Iran has never made much of an impact on the West. It certainly doesn't lack a vibrant classical tradition, as albums by Hossein Alizadeh, Kayhan Kalhor and Mohammed Reza Shajarian will attest, and with Azerbaijanis, Bahtiari, Baluchi, and Kurds each contributing their own styles of folk music.
