2009 | Label: Columbia

Beth Ditto is sexy as hell. But that's been well-established, hasn't it? Ditto's force-of-nature personality, her pride in her voluptuous curves, her vixenish wardrobe, her outspokenness about her sexuality, her brassy, soulful voice — these are all staples of any conversation about Ditto and her punk-soul-dance band, Gossip. Ditto and Gossip have a loyal following, but what's remarkable about the release of their first major label record, Music For Men, is that the fabulous hurricane that is Ditto is being celebrated by a whole new audience. Less raw and more polished (keyboards, my word!) The Gossip keep turning out album after great album.

Seriously one of the best albums of 2009

wangdang

This album has gotten mixed reviews in the press, so I waited for it to show up on emusic..and im kind of sad I waited.. i love how the band use elements from older songs and kind make them their own.. like how the song Heavy Cross has that guitar riff that sounds like 'edge of 17' by Stevie Nicks.. i forget which song later in the album has elements of like 'I was made for loving you' by Kiss. Its just a great album. Well worth an investigation. yay
