She really does have a beautiful voice and these are clever songs. Whenever and wherever I listen to Gretchen its always late at night, my tie is loosened and I am dancing cheek to cheek with a beautiful lady .....

Distinctive voice with creative arrangements

Gretchen does not sound like anyone else. She has a slight latin edge to her voice, but it is more than that. There's a depth and originality to her voice, delivery and arrangements that remind me of Sheila Jordan. Sheila is one of my favorites, so that is a complement. The tunes are also good, so this album is a winner!

It's About Time

It's so great to finally see Gretchen Parlato's first solo LP available on eMusic. Either solo, or instrument accompanied, her voice is ethereal, with its airy and sensuous tones. Check out how she handles Wayne Shorter's Juju/Footprints. Also, don't hesitate to hear her accompany Kenny Barron on 'Phantoms' (from 'The Traveler'); Massimo Biolcati's 'Stillness: Clouds' ('Persona') and Morrie Louden's 'Insensatez' ('Time Piece'), all available on eMusic.
