it is what it is

bang-a-rang

These guys are worth the download. Fast paced, snotty songs about vampires, chupacabras, and doin' it while driving over bridges.. can't get any better. The songs can get old, they all sound the same and there's nothing profound in the lyrics, but "let's do it again" is a top pic of all time for me. Punk rock.

I like all of the Groovie Ghoulies...

They're kinda punk rock - lite. They utilize the main three punk rock chords and the drums keep up a good fast beat. And the topics of the songs are fun - who doesn't love monsters like vampires and chupacubras? As I said in my title, I like all of their albums. But I also agree with reviewers I've read elsewhere who criticize the band for over-utilizing a formula. I just know that if they release a song I can be pretty sure what it sounds like, and I can be pretty sure that I'm gonna like it.

They Say All Music Guide

Go! Stories is the first full-length album the Groovie Ghoulies have made in two years. What is unusual about this isn’t the length between albums, but the length of the albums themselves. Only two songs crack the three-minute mark, and those barely last a few seconds more anyway. These are some short, direct songs about girls, TV, and acting dumb. They have almost totally dropped their fascination with monsters, but they have replaced it with a positive message that rails against fear and alienation and emphasizes self-confidence over all. The band retains the same naïve charm, changing very little musically or through their approach. But the Groovie Ghoulies thrive on this sort of simplicity, and it is doubtful that anyone will miss their previous lyrical fascinations when they still have the same sound that they’ve always retained. Anyone who has heard the group before knows exactly what to expect, just understand that they have different things to sing about now. – Bradley Torreano
