One of the best albums on eMusic

thegitdown

Hands down my vote for best album of 2011, a spine tingling blend of electronic sounds and human emotions

One of their best

Joymonster

This is basically a dance album, but a very good one The tracks with guest vocalist Högni Egilsson add an emotional depth that hasn't been present on a GusGus album so consistantly. Key tracks are: Over, Be With Me Now, Arabian Horse, Within You.

I'd forgotten how good these guys can be. "Over" is crazily catchy.

don't judge by name

crushedshell

the artists name is not very rad but give the songs a chance...if you're a skeptic try Over / Selfoss / or Magnified Love first

HOT!!

They manage to continue progressing without losing their identity or selling out. Amazing! They're playing live tomorrow here in Cologne in the Bootshaus. Can hardly wait to experience them live!!!

Eclipses Most Current Electronica

kysrsoze

Having come of age in the late 80's and early 90's I've been spoiled by so many great techno/trance/trip hop, etc., bands. I continually look for new electronic music that can hold a candle to all the brilliant 90's electronic musica, and am often disappointed by super-hyped albums which turn out to just be derivative, mindless rehashes. Gus Gus has an amazing catalogue of work, and manages to still stay relevant today. You recognize it's them, but they've managed to change it all into something new. I'm glad they're still making albums.

No Antique... a rare earth!

I'm a long-time GusGus fan, along with a lot of other electronic acts, and I'm often finding that many of those acts fall flat with new releases and even their older stuff is sounding dated. Not so with GusGus. While this is clearly their sound (familiar, sure), it is still engrossing and moving. Highly recommended.
