The follow-up to Model for a Monument and Haywood’s second full-length album, Men Called Him Mister is an accomplished collection of tunefully angular indie rock, reminiscent of bands like Pavement, Built to Spill, or Varnaline. The lyrics are quirkily abstract, not really the often hilarious non sequiturs of Pavement but full of oddly fresh imagery all the same. All in all, Men Called Him Mister displays a band with a great deal of potential. – Steve Huey
