Anyone just attempting the Himalayan-proportion heights of this Rachmaninoff work is a five-star in my list. That said, I find Sigfridsson's interpretation of surprising clarity and expression. Unlike older versions of the famous No.2, his notes come pure and detached: I'm aware that some of the new microphone techniques may have something to do with this, but his approach is almost minimalistic. He keeps his pedal under control as well as circumnavigating the excesses. I love his performance.
