You have good ears... yes this CD is a frankenstein, BUT tracks 1-5 are a prime and rare example of righteous kozmigroov. These tracks are a re-ordered version of an LP called "Kawaida", originally released on the O'Be label in 1970. At various times it has been credited to Albert Heath (or at the time Kuumba Toudie Heath), Herbie Hancock, and Mtume (Heath's nephew). Here's the original release info - add the track times and compare to the total of the emusic version): 1. Baraka (13:12) 2. Kamili (5:48) 3. Dunia (8:29) 4. Maulana (9:45) 5. Kawaida (7:39) Personnel: Ed Blackwell - Percussion Billy Bonner - Flute, Percussion Don Cherry - Trumpet Herbie Hancock - Piano Albert "Tootie" Heath - Drums Jimmy Heath - Sax (Soprano), Sax (Tenor) James Mtume - Conga, Voice Buster Williams - Bass

Any Info?

Does any one know the genesis of this record? I could not find it on www..allmusic.com and the Dunia listed here is 14 minutes and HH's other two records have it at 8 minutes. But the Dunia recording seems to be two songs spliced together. A good recording, but two very different songs and sounds. But aside from the where the heck did they get this ("WTHDTGT") factor, some good downloads
