EH?!

monkeymaster

i will be downloading this purely on the basis of dyndi's review. STOP LISTENING TO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD TO LISTEN TO. 50 pence is gansta pop music for the top 40, he's a mumbling rap-britney bullet riddled product manufactured to take money from the young, the stupid and the homicidal/drug dealing fantatists. There are so many quality hip hop artists out there now (amongst the huge piles of rubbish), you're spoilt for choice.

true hip hop

zosimo

it is sad that someone like dyndi thinks that 50 cent is real rap. someone like dyndi has probably never heard of boogie down productions or de la soul or any of the groups that introduced hip hop to the world. then you have these rappers that degrade women and talk about money money money. its not about that at all. it is about having something to say that actually moves people and doesnt make them want to go and slap a b!@#

Good for Hiero Fans

rayrey

I've been listenin to this album for a few weeks now and it's defintely for those Hiero fans that have been around for awhile. Remixes galore, B-Sides and just some over all Hiero Classics. Pick it up if you're a collector or if your gettin in to them...

Just a note

LeaseDef

For anyone reading dyndi's review which calls Hiero not real rap, note that dyndi has not downloaded this album, and, in fact, has only downloaded rock. I haven't downloaded this particular album yet, so I won't comment on it currently, but please disregard dyndi's review.

It's great to be able to get a copy of "cyberpunks" again, that's always been one of my favorite Del tracks.

Lords of the Underground: A Guide to Underground Hip-Hop

By Hua Hsu, eMusic Contributor

"Underground" is one of those tantalizingly vague terms that's always on the verge of obsolescence until some mouthy, hungry new rapper comes along and reanimates it. Whether it was being dismissed as a fad, derided as a menace to society or ascending the pop charts, there's always been a distinct way in which hip-hop has represented its underground ethos — the long-repressed reality straight from America's cities on one hand, or a new set of… more »

They Say All Music Guide

A collection of hard-to-find tracks from Hieroglyphics and its members, Over Time is definitely not the album if you’re looking for a best-of collection. Only two actual Hieroglyphics pieces are included, the Domino remix of “You Never Knew,” and “Heat” which was released as B-side in 1999, and most of songs that will be recognizable to fans of the crew (Pep Love’s “Fight Club,” Del’s “Phoney Phranchise” and “If You Must,” the Souls of Mischief’s “Soundscience”) are all here in remixed form. This is fine, but a cuss-free version of “Phoney Phranchise” is not as good as the Both Sides of the Brain version, even if the new beat fits the song well. Many of the other tracks on Over Time have been found on various rare compilations (A Pluss’ “Greed,” Del’s “Cyberpunks,” Souls of Mischief’s “Unseen Hands”), but it’s nice to have them all collected onto one record, and shows off the impressive talent of each individual. Del, as the Hieroglyphics’ founder and most visible and prolific member, is the star of the show, showing up on no less than eight of Over Time’s 14 tracks, but MCs like Casual, Tajai, and Pep Love all flaunt their own verbal abilities well and effectively, and make the compilation an interesting and worthwhile investment for Hiero followers. – Marisa Brown
