Recorded at the turn of the '70s in the Bronx for Lloyd Bullwackie's legendary Wackies label, this overlooked set from Jamaican icon Andy is a masterpiece of fiery, dubbed-out soul. After a string of successful records on the Studio One label, Andy recorded this collection of old classics done anew ("Money Money") and startling originals ("Spying Glass," later covered by Massive Attack) with the massively underrated Wackies in-house band. His haunting falsetto has rarely sounded this good, suggesting both the innocent awe of a child and the gritty, weary tone of someone who's seen it all.
