Top notch Prokofiev

Excellent performances of Prokofievs two best piano concertos. The 3rd is far and away the most popular of his five piano concertos. However, it is the very undervalued 2nd concerto, which I think is his greatest work in this genre. While there are several other good performances of these works available on emusic (Yefim Bronfman on Sony, Kun Woo Paik on Naxos), the performances of Horacio Gutierrez may be the best.

Amazing, Exciting Performance

The lyricism and frenetic drive of the famous Concerto no. 3 took my breath away. The No.2 is harsh and full of beautiful dissonances, distinctively Prokofiev. I love this music. Gutierrez is definitely up to the task of these difficult works. The quality of the recording is excellent, too. I'm going to listen to this again and again.
