The slide guitarist’s trio (second guitarist, drums) was banging heads against South Side club walls when the call came from Iglauer, and tunes like “Taylor’s Rock” — relentless, sweaty, metallic, undisciplined and utterly irresistible — somehow managed to catch the same kind of excitement in the studio. Even the slow tunes, which couldn’t have been more precarious, hung together just long enough to unleash their own kind of drama. There’s more to the best blues than just this, but Taylor can make you a believer.
