Taylor can make you believe in the blues
2009 | Label: Alligator Records

The slide guitarist’s trio (second guitarist, drums) was banging heads against South Side club walls when the call came from Iglauer, and tunes like “Taylor’s Rock” — relentless, sweaty, metallic, undisciplined and utterly irresistible — somehow managed to catch the same kind of excitement in the studio. Even the slow tunes, which couldn’t have been more precarious, hung together just long enough to unleash their own kind of drama. There’s more to the best blues than just this, but Taylor can make you a believer.

Does ALANT realise that HDT died in 1975? Ripped off who??? Or was it irony?

Low down dirty blues. No subtleties here at all. Crank it up to 11!!

They Say All Music Guide

The first album and the perfect place to start. Wild, raucous, crazy music straight out of the South Side clubs. The incessant drive of Hound Dog’s playing is best heard on “Give Me Back My Wig,” “55th Street Boogie,” and “Taylor’s Rock,” while the sound of Brewer Phillips’ Telecaster on “Phillips’ Theme” gives new meaning to the phrase “sheet metal tone.” One of the greatest slide guitar albums of all time. – Cub Koda
