They Say All Music Guide

After two releases and the departure of two members (guitarist Jonas Österberg after the first record and vocalist Masse Broberg following the second), it was decided that Hypocrisy guitarist/bandleader Peter Tägtgren should take over the lead vocal duties himself. A band lineup was then solidified that would last through at least one breakup and well into the next decade. Obviously, there was something extraordinary about this trio of musicians and the death metal they were able to create. The Fourth Dimension is just the first in a long list of quality offerings these three would produce together. Led by Tägtgren’s clever riffs and very capable death metal rasp, this 1994 Nuclear Blast effort features fan favorites like the epic “Request Denied,” as well as the title track “The Fourth Dimension.” Besides these now-classic numbers, there are other standouts too numerous to mention. Fans of Scandinavian metal in all its forms, as well as Florida death metal aficionados, will all do well to add Fourth Dimension to their collections. A significant metal release. – Jason Anderson
