Beautiful ???

Rojoe69 With all due respect the most powerful language in which to communicate with the Divine is Love. I think it is the gutteral ch that some people have a hard time listening to. It is a vocal sound so unfamiliar to the western ear. Yet, it is this very sound that gives Hebrew it's own unique flavor and beauty much like the rolling r's in French & Spanish. It is one of the most ancient languages in the world and holds a very powerful essence. I do not believe any language sung out of the spirit of Love can be anything but beautiful. Idan Raichel may just be one of the most talented artists in Israel right now. I am so very glad to have enriched my musical experience with such amazing talent. I highly recommend it to anyone with a love for world music and especially for anyone with an affinity for Hebrew.

With all due respect to the other reviewers, if Hebrew is a language you actually speak and you speak it everyday, it is not harsh. It is one of the oldest languages in the world and the Hebrew Torah is written in this language. It is the most powerful language in which to communicate with the Divine.

Mixed bag with some gems

I agree with Zeno that Hebrew can sound harsh when sung, certainly to a non-Hebrew speaker like me. There are some lovely tracks here (6 and 10 are gorgeous), but some backing sounds hackneyed to me. A fascinating project, nonetheless.

Beautiful music....

Lush and beautiful understated music and melodies. The only negative, to my taste, is that the relatively harsh sound of the Hebrew language makes for a poor mesh with the softness of the music. Therefore, the most aesthetically cohesive tracks are those in other languages, such as the two gorgeous tracks featuring Mayra Andrade and Marta Gomez. Nevertheless, a very talented artist whom I am glad to have discovered.

Ok 3rd album, but expected more

I was looking forward to Idan's 3rd album. However, it is not as good as the 1st two are. Still, there are some really good songs. My favorite track is #5 Chalomot Shel Acherim (Other People's Dreams). Another good one is #2 Bein Kirot Beiti (Within My Walls)

it's been a while since i last heard something so refreshing and so well put together. I think Idan's music appeals to very different audiences and I am very happy to have this new album!
