poor bootleg quality

blindbanjodjim

i bought this cd from a local record shop and was thoroughly disappointed in the mix. granted, it's live and one should expect some fuzziness around the edges, but the mix was so muddy, that mike watt's bass was almost completely lost. the ride cymbal and iggy's voice are about all that comes through relatively clearly, and an occasional guitar solo, but really, for the price of the cd, and the quality of the band, you'd think someone working the board would have made more of an effort on the mix. and then to split the last two songs onto another disc completely seems like such a waste. the label that released this has a good reputation, but this is the first i've purchased from them... if this is any indication of the remainder of the catalog, i'd stay away. it's crappy bootleg quality at best. i think i've recorded better shows with a cassette recorder at the far end of the concert venue. too bad, because the songs are great.

Iggy's subsequent decision to reconvene the band's second line-up — and coax legendary guitarist James Williamson out of retirement — was less expected. While the original combo… more »
