I agree with others in that most newer death metal sucks. There are however exceptions to the rule, Unholy Cult being one. Too bad Alex Hernandez left after this one 'cause he is one bad mutha!

Death Metal The Way It Should Be

TheAccuser

It's been said many times before but it still needs to be said: most new death metal sucks. There, I said it (again): most of these bands cram every moment with as many riffs as possible, most of those riffs suck, and I'm too old for this crap. But on the other hand, we have Immolation. While the individual riffs are often technical and complex, there are only a few of them per song, and they're repeated long enough that you can get into the feeling of them, instead of being immediately dropped to make way for yet more riffs. As a result, this album, like other Immolation albums, crushes you with its foreboding atmosphere and malevolent weight. Let's not forget that death metal is supposed to be DARK; Immolation haven't.
