Outstanding
Kandisa is quite simply one of the most important albums to come out of India in the new millennium. Indian Ocean has a cult following in some sections of India, and it showcases the best that Indian non-film music has to offer. The band combines the flavor of Indian folk music with a jam-band sensibility to create great melodies. I personally love all the tracks on this album, but particularly noteworthy ones include the upbeat "Leaving Home" and "Khajuraho", which combines a variety of Indian classical and folk influences climaxing in the end with a Knopfleresque flourish of guitar-plucking. I personally recommend it highly to anyone interested in trying something outside the normal.
