2012 | Label: Anti/Epitaph

With his indie-rock side project Mister Heavenly, Nick Thorburn crafted a quirky new genre called “doom-wop” – a tasty mish-mash of classic pop and demented art-rock. On A Sleep & A Forgetting, his first album in three years as Islands, Thorburn delivers dreamy songs stuffed with “ooh-ahh” harmonies, lovelorn lyrics and oceanic guitars that wash over like waves on sand. A Sleep & A Forgetting

I like this album very much. i have listened to it on repeat all day and have not gotten bored with it yet. I keep finding myself finding a new favorite song as the cd goes on and over again. The lyrics and harmonies are fantastic and the musicianship is overly produced or cheesy. It has a very genuine feel to this album. It's a chill album. One I will be playing out of my speakers tonight as I sip on some Cognac with my pipe. Very Very Good album..... I also thought the review the guy above me gave really sucked.....IDK we all have our own opinions but this album is AWESOME! Well worth the money paid. Jahn Diroll Knowledgeborn07.com

A Sleep & A Forgetting - Islands

BeInformed

Well the title certainly hit the nail on the head! or The title, says all that needs to be said! tape some firecrackers on this tragic vinyl disc and send it flying. Not sure how Ryan Reed found sooooow-much to write about. Oh and sorry, but, we do not need some youngins signing about the late "Buddy Holly". "An acoustic reverie with glorious harmonies and a chorus that ascends to the heavens" I am gagging here. I'm just, I'm done here with this. I think I am a bit angry now, oh well ;-)

By Jayson Greene, Managing Editor

A whole boatload of new arrivals this Valentine's Week -- there's not a moment to spare! Heartless Bastards, Arrow: More bluesy, road-trip-worthy rock from Heartless Bastards, fronted by the mighty Erika Wennerstrom. RECOMMENDED. From Austin L. Ray: Fresh from touring on 2009's coming-down-off-a-relationship record, The Mountain Heartless Bastards frontlady Erika Wennerstrom took some time off, road tripping all over the country to spend time with friends and family and music that wasn't her own. As it turns… more »
