I fortunately found this recording after seeing JBL in the Wim Winders blues documentary years ago. His incredible guitar playing is totally covered up in the other recordings, there's just too much horns, piano, drums - everything gets in the way and he is lost, becoming just another blues singer. I just love this recording. And have loved it for years. He's powerful, using space in his playing in a way that is totally unique.
If you like blues music and don't know J.B. Lenoir, I highly recommend this one. This is simple, great and best of all good sound quality. Check out J.B. on YouTube. Some very cool stuff there.
There is so much history regarding J.B. Lenoir. I believe that Willie Dixon is doing some of the percussion and background in some of the recordings also. It amazes me that these were recorded over 40 years ago and not only does the music knock your socks off.. the sound quality is excellant also. I keep coming back and adding more songs to my downloads. Eventually I will have them ALL and wonder why I was so stingy with my downloads.
