I agree with RUBICONVICT...

Ditto to RUBICONVICT's review. There's a few albums from the classic fusion days that shine forever and "Bright Size Life" is one of them.

it's a bit of a mess. this is one of those "warts 'n all" recordings of Jaco's. it's certainly not one of the better musical documents. it's good. there's some nice playing on it, but this trio is better documented on Live in Italy. the recording here is superior, but the performances are just average for this group. Bireli is always on. He's a beast. And I'll take just about anything of Jaco's at this point, even scraping the very bottom of the barrel with the Live in New York bootlegs. some of those are truly dreadful, and only serve as historical memory of his decline as a human being and a musician. but, like i said, i'll take what i can get. if you're a Jaco fan, buy this. if you're not yet, but want to learn, don't start here. pick up Word of Mouth or the first self-titled record, or one of the Joni Mitchell records he's on (Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, Mingus, Shadows and Light) or, my favorite, my desert island album, the Pat Metheny trio album, Bright Size Life.
