I couldn't agree more about this concerto and this performance it is absolutely superb. As to whether it is the best on emusic....well Gil Shaham's new performance on Canary Clasics is its equal in performance with the live recording just a tad less spacious(but still excellent)how great it is to have two such performances and I agree "what a concerto".
This is a fantastic work which I was very pleased to discover through downloading this album (marvellously played by James Ehnes & Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Sir Andrew Davis). I would say this is quite clearly the best recording of the work currently available on eMusic. This disc currently costs about £13 on Amazon.co.uk - download and enjoy it for a little over a pound! You can't go wrong, it's insane value for money.
