Bold concept

Jamestowne shows how good U2's Joshua Tree is. There's no way that he equals Bono's souring vocals or the band's instrumentation, but the songs on this tribute impress. The Joshua Tree is really its own beast, and Jamestowne demonstrates the wondrousness of the album. Very enjoyable.

strong clear vocals

With plaintive emotion the vocals call all ears to the evocative lyrics of pure melodic genius from Bono and company; and this set is harder than it looks my friends. No one, of course, can outdo the Irish lads from U2 at their home-turf material…but Jamestown manages something quite different than that…they manage to add something new to the wildly rotated gems from ‘Joshua Tree’. With an immediacy in his warm vocal tones and honesty enough to let voice rein supreme over the delicate and sparse acoustic guitar parts, Jamestown has intrigued me on first listen. I suspect that further listenings will reveal more underplay and the kind of understatement that can only come from equal parts confidence, musical skill and pure heart and love for the material. Kudos.
