An underappreciated album in its day

At the time it seemed to be an odd sounding hodgepodge, but it has aged well. Try cuts 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 but really the whole album is worth 9 downloads.

After the underappreciated "Rough and Ready", the Jeff Beck Group got together once more to produce another solid LP. However, Beck had guitar slinging to do and this group wasn't the vehicle he needed to do that. Still...good work here.

This one is a clasic. One of the best Jeff Beck ever recorded. If you don't have it, download it all because all trakcs are great one's. If you want to sample first...try "Going Down"...still one of my all time favorites after all these years. Glad to see this one here.

Continuing with the same group lineup as on Rough and Ready, Jeff Beck Group was slagged off by critics for Steve Cropper’s admittedly lazy production. However, several of the songs hold up masterfully, including the skronky “Ice Cream Cakes,” the superlative redo of Don Nix’s “Going Down,” and the beautifully sad and wistful instrumental, “Definitely Maybe.” Beware of early, poor-sounding versions. – Tom Graves
