Jeffrey is one of my all time singers (& i saw JB and Otis, and Jeffrey live). I didn't know what to expect with this release, but when I heard that voice, it was magic all over again. He's just 'got it', some do, some don't. I also wondered about 'covers', but again...wrong. They are great! I always wished he had had more commercial success so people would appreciate him like i do. I've seen too many lesser talents climb higher, but Jeffrey's done and is doing his thing....and the other reviews indicated that I am not alone is appreciating his immense and unique talent. Rock on. Or should that be 'groove on'?

Nobody Better

I have LOVE'D Jeffrey Osborne from the first time I saw him LIVE in Phoenix, AZ in the early 80's. WOW...I've been a FAN forever and wish he would come out with more. Because I have every album he has out and wish I had 10 more. I can seriously listen to him all day long. He's truly one of a kind and a true artist that will stand the test of time. Jeffrey...UR the BOMB!

These young kids out here nowadays who think they're balladeers need to take lessons from artists such as Jeffrey. Very smooth!

They Say All Music Guide

Two years after the surprisingly modern-sounding Music Is Life, Jeffrey Osborne returned on From the Soul with a set of covers. His voice, understated but moving without exception, takes center stage throughout. The arrangements are straight-ahead, conservative, with no frills, and they all stream by at a leisurely pace. When backing most other voices, they’d run the risk of trying the patience of the average listener, but they’re fine enough since they’re supporting Osborne. The nicest touch of all is a sweet run through “All at Once,” a song co-written by the singer that was made popular (roughly 20 years to the date) by Whitney Houston. Other highlights include Gamble/Huff’s “Close the Door,” Curtis Mayfield’s “People Get Ready,” and Barbara Mason’s “Yes I’m Ready.” – Andy Kellman
