This record melds mainstream modern jazz with contemporary salsa in a thoroughly satisfying way. The influence of Wood Shaw is strong, as you'd expect with Carter Jefferson and Larry Willis on board. I've heard echoes of this set reverberate on many other discs: It obviously was a strong influence in its day and powerful music today too.
