Excellent!

Tremendously funny observational humor--Seinfeld level quality.

Laughin' with Gaffigan!!!!

PJmoney

This could be his funniest album yet! You can't think too much just listen. Not like some other people, which is what you do when you listen to a comedian. Don't think, listen. I've got all his albums, he's hilarious!!!!

very funny

Eclectic-Grandma

My friend introduced me to this guy and I downloaded the album. We laughed all the way through it!

Not bad but mostly pedestrian and kind of annoying

StillWater

I got bored pretty quickly with the 'dumb, lazy American' stereotype that Gaffigan constantly plays up to. Much of his material is about how much he worships TV, hates books, and how he can't imagine any food that tastes better than bacon. In other words, it's basically like listening to Homer Simpson for an hour. I like Homer Simpson, but not for his sharp wit. All of this would be ok, since most of the material is half-decent, if it weren't for the frequent intrusions of Gaffigan's horrible, squeaky 'alter-ego' voice. I can't see anything inherently funny about the voice, and its high-pitched, wheezing quality is as grating as fingernails on a blackboard. To me, it detracts from the material, and highlights that voices and impersonations should be left to those comics who have the talent for them.

Should be awful, but is brilliant

Edwina

This is old fashioned observational comedy so it has no right to be as hilarious as it is. Jim delivers the relatively simple material so well that I laughed all the way through. Brilliant!

Dangerous to listen to while driving

graciecat

I enjoy listening to comedy albums while driving, but this one cracked me up so much it made driving a bit difficult. I have all of the Jim Gaffigan albums available on eMusic and this is by far my favorite.

Put it in your Hi-Fi...

Sydwaits

I couldn't believe how crisp the high end is, especially when the bass really drops the end out. Well tracked, mixed and mastered, this will soon be available in 5.1 from what I hear, and I can't wait. (If I'm not mistaken, on track 6 you can actually hear an audience member cough). Thanks for putting out another stellar prog-comic album.

All Hail the King Baby!!

james.l.flowers

This is just one of the funniest stand up routines I have heard in a long time and I had to share it with friends because I was literally in tears as he was talking about the "Apostle from Jersey" on "Almost Heaven". This is just Up and Down a great Comedy Set that you won't mind playing around the kids or the parents without having to blush at the subject matter or language.

Love the Gaff!

hhjack

While not as great as his previous records, King Baby is still a hilarious way to spend the hour. Recommended.

Very Funny - A+

Jim Gaffigan is hilarious on this, his 3rd comedy CD. This is my fav of the three. He is clean and relevant which makes this an ideal buy whether your college aged or buying it for the family.

They Say All Music Guide

Taking his glorification of American laziness to a whole new level, Jim Gaffigan’s King Baby tops his 2006 release, Beyond the Pale, a rare platinum-selling comedy album that is referenced here right off (“I thought he’d be paler. Least as pale as that CD where he looks like a pedophile”). The track “Inside Voice” is named after the comedian’s signature falsetto alter-ego voice, a device that’s used sparingly and purposefully here, completely taking the “it’s a crutch” argument off the table. With less of it, there are fewer cheap laughs, allowing Gaffigan to build momentum as he heralds bowling (“The activity you do after you’ve done everything else”), hammocks (“nets for catching lazy people”), and Waffle House (“I love Waffle House, and not just because watching someone fry an egg while they’re smoking reminds me of my dad”). The bit on bologna and it’s spelling vs. pronunciation — decided by the man responsible for “colonel” — is especially funny, but it’s the epic riffing on bacon that becomes the set’s centerpiece and somewhat of a sequel to Beyond the Pale’s big comedy hit “Hot Pockets.” There are a few Jesus jokes and such that might not fly with some, but this is otherwise a family-friendly effort with no profanity. It’s also Gaffigan in top form, remaining laugh-out-loud funny the whole way through. – David Jeffries
