Simply, her best

TinaBeena

Back in the day, this album was my first introduction to Joan. I've listened to them all and this album remains my favorite. The vocals are strong, the lyrics are good, and there is a frenetic power to the music that she was never able to duplicate on other albums. From the prophetic 80's anthem "Me, Myself, I" to the final plantive ballad, "I Need You", there is an energy, freshness, and power that threads through the entire disc.

The result was the best selling album Armatrading has ever had in either the U.S. or U.K. – William Ruhlmann
