Beautiful music
Some very beautiful, moody music, though it sounds a bit more like something I would have expected from Jan Gaberak than John Surman. The music is predominantly ethereal synth tracks with Surman's wonderful Soprano Sax, Baritone Sax and Bass Clarinet weaving in and out. Written for the soundtrack of a movie of the same name, tracks 1-9 seem to be the snippets of music used in the film. Tracks 10-12 are much more musically rewarding as they are fully realized pieces including all the snippets of tracks 1-9. Track 13 seems a bit out of sync with the mood of the rest of the music with a funkier groove feel (Maybe it fits in the context of the film?). To be honest, if I had it to do over again I'd be tempted to just download the Suites although the short snippets may have some use for my own personal A/V productions. Overall some very interesting beautiful ethereal music.
