It doesn't get any better than this.
Perhaps the single greatest movie score ever composed, by one of the two greatest film score composers who ever lived (the other being Williams' contemporary, Jerry Goldsmith). Williams' score for Superman might be as good as this one; it's a close call. In any case, _The Empire Strikes Back_ is a truly epic soundtrack that has it all: romantic swells, haunting atonal dissonance, catchy themes, exemplary leitmotif, and some of the finest musicianship you'll ever hear. Considering when it was recorded, the sound quality isn't bad, either. I envy anyone who has yet to hear this magnificent and majestic score. *****
