Hurts (so good)

boomer55

I bought this album for his cover of "Hurt", which I think is so much more powerful than the original. It brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it. Other standouts are The Man Comes Around, Personal Jesus and Tear Stained Letter.

He is an icon!

Absolutely amazing... he brings his own distinct somber sound to each track. If I had to choose and could only keep one album in my library it would be this one!

Damn your eyes

This album just starts out with a bang; the apocolyptic title track is played with such ferocity that even the unbeliever gets goosebumps. Cut into the popular "Hurt" where Cash channels the personal emotions of Kurt Reznor and adds in his own emotions of a man whose wife has just died and who seems to know his day is right around the corner. Such is the theme of most of the rest of this album, and all of the covers fit in and just seem right...with one notable exception, the incredibly fun "Sam Hall," tossed in as if Cash wanted to remind us that even though he's at the end of his road, he's still an onery old cuss.

Unbelievably GREAT

coming from a 1980s hardcore background. I LOVE THIS ALBUMS! The simplistic song of Johnny's voice and guitar has lead millions to his work. He truly is an inspiration in countless ways. He changed ONE word in his cover of NIN's "Hurt" to more accurately relay his own emotions. CLASSIC+.
