This album is amazing but the bitrates are so low....

Fantastic music, but why was it ripped at such low bitrate!? Sacrilege! They are all ripped with variable bitrates, going as low as 174kbps. Unbelievable.

'Nice' music

Blood

In my view this is family friendly music. Clean. It is slightly new-agey but pleasant. Nowhere near as developed/mature as the music by Ulrich Schnauss though.

Magnificent

Berts-flies

Along similar lines to also accomplished Ulrich Snauss, Hopkins delivers a tidy package of bliss on both albums available here at Emusic. These are amongst my favourites of the 7 plus days of music listed on my MP3 player. "It's cold out there" is the winner.

Sublime Beauty

Moogdude

Opalescent is different from the recent "Contact Note" which leans more towards a more commercial sound. It explores various evolving themes which creates a very fluid listening experience. Whilst alot of electronic music tries too hard and lapses into contrived "Chill Out" ephemera, this albums' strength is its playful, lyrical simplicity Opalescent is an album of exquisite beauty and profound emotional depth. I defy anyone not to be moved.

Like fine wine

I absolutely agree with the other review. But I will add that I was disappointed on first listen because I played this on my laptop. If there was ever a cd that required headphones and a quiet listen, this is it. The downside? Now I have to buy a bonus pack to get Contact Note.

Create Your Own No-Stress Zone

Antoine

The music by this man is the aural salve that I am always looking for, and yet rarely find. D/L this and Contact Note if you like what you hear. Mind-blowingly seductive and sensuous soundscapes await you!

Outstanding

The music of Jon Hopkins touches something inside of me. I loved it on first listening and it still sounds great. I don't think you can really appreciate it from the 30 second samples because each song is a micro journey of the mind. Get this one and Contact Note.
