Fond Memories

Tullfan

This is a recording from Sydney of a performance that toured Australia. The tickets were originally sold as Jon Lord performing with a string Quartett (or something similar). I bought tickets to see that at Coolum (North of Brisbane). Well Jon made some apollogies about hurting his hand and being unable to play the piano. So he substituted his Hamond Organ and the Hoochie Coochie Men.. This was a great performance. Unexpected and very memorable. Missing from this version are several tracks where the band was joined by Jimmy Barnes on vocals. He sang an excellent version of "When a Blind Man Cries". Look for it on DVD, the Barnes tracks can be found there. Two of the "Men" performing here are from Kahvas Jute. Their "Live at the Basement 2005" tracks may appeal if you enjoyed this.

Nice, jammy and fun

Siggi65

Iīm a blues fan and thereīs been a lot of rubbish on the market. Everybody seems to think they can play the blues because itīs so simple. Thatīs not a fact! you have to put something extra in to it. This album has got a nice tuch, you can hear that the members are having fun, nothing is overdone and the songs runs smoothly through the whole album. Nice, very nice

Bluesy as Blues can get

John.Kontessis

Jon Lord seems to be at home here. He gives the impression of really enjoying playing the blues, which he does, infinitely. The Hoochie Coochie men are excellent performers and stand up to expectations. Excellent recording. "Green Onion" and "baby please don't go" will make you feel you were there with them, swinging and dancing, while "strange brew" will make you sing along and sway to the rhythm and the sound of the slide guitar.
