Good, But Inconsistent

Moonraven

There is no denying that Serrie is an excellent and celebrated composer. He has a deep, perhaps even spiritually innate understanding of the cosmos and is gifted at translating it into music. What befuddles me however, is his inconsistency in composition. Most of his albums start out in an organic, perky, even jazzy scheme, only to go ambient soon after? I don't quite understand this approach in composition. Nevertheless, his music is exceptional.

Amazing Otherworldly Music

crafterx43

This is my favorite recording by Jonn Serrie, however all of his recording are uniformly excellent. I have had the honor to be in attendance for many of Mr. Serrie's performances in the Atlanta area and I must say he is always on top of his game and is the consummate musician. Very highly recommended. I must warn you, if you download this you will want to get the full collection, so make sure you have enough downloads!

They Say All Music Guide

Jonn Serrie made his initial impact in the music world as a composer and performer of planetarium soundtracks. To that repertoire, he added his knack for capturing romantic moments in musical journeys. Ixlandia presents Serrie in the best of both worlds. He combines deep space music with romantic melodies and gentle ballads. The compositions come in three derivations — deep space, gentle romance, and/or both. The deep space minimalism does not go to the dark side. Serrie stays on the gentler pastoral side of e-music. This disc, the companion to Midsummer Century, will appeal to fans of Kevin Braheny, Patrick O’Hearn, John Flomer, David Helpling, and Tim Clark. (This was originally available on Miramar. After they went out of business, Serrie reissued the disc on New World.) – Jim Brenholts
