he WILL grow on you
His folksy style is not for the inexperienced listener. His lyrics might seem trivial if you just let them flow over you...don't make this mistake, listen to what he is saying.

I don't get Josh
This is not Ritter's best work, but it's not bad work either. It's great to round out the collection and really take in how much he has progressed, but there is plenty of good songs here as well.
This is one for the collection... IF you are already a fan. I, myself, didn't start out being the huge Josh Ritter fan I am now by listening to this album. Like the other reviewers have mentioned,it has it's rough spots. Mr. Ritter has since found he can do more with his vocal range and delivery. BUT, with that being said it is still a great effort lyrically. The guy knows how to write a love song! Please tell me that you will listen to some of his newer stuff before making a decision on whether you like him or not. Best track on this album: Beautiful Night.
What a pleasant surpirse to find that Emusic had added his first album. I had been searching for this and was about to buy it off his webiste when this showed up here. This album may be a bit rough in some spots but his brilliant songwriting abilities shine through. Highlights are Leaves and Knights, Paths Will Cross, Beautiful Night and Angels on Her Shoulders. If you're a fan of Josh then this is a must have.
Some rough but foreboding tuneage, the building of an artist. Listen then, and listen now. Here comes the maestro of Moscow Idaho!
