Head-spinning ecletic music
The categories 'Americana, bluegrass' do not do this album justice (great though those genres are). This has everything: soul brass, funky banjo (funky banjo?!), calypso... to coin a Giant Sand title, Josh Small is all over the map - and he's redrawing some of those boundaries while he's at it. You can imagine a young Van Morrison making music like this (if he was starting out today). Check out Track 2, Everyone's Daughter: you won't spend a better 42p :-)
